Your flowers were cut, conditioned and arranged with care. A few minutes a day keeps them going.
When they arrive
- Unwrap them and fill a clean vase with cool water.
- Cut 2–3 cm off every stem at an angle, with a sharp knife or scissors.
- Remove any leaves that would sit below the water.
- Add the flower food from your box.
Every day or two
- Change the water and rinse the vase.
- Trim the stems again.
- Take out any flower that is fading — it shortens the life of the rest.
Where to keep them
- Somewhere cool, out of direct sun.
- Away from heaters, air-conditioning vents and draughts.
- Away from fruit: ripening fruit gives off a gas that ages flowers.
Roses
If a rose head droops, re-cut the stem and stand it in deep, cool water for an hour.
Plants
Water when the top of the soil is dry, and keep them in bright, indirect light.
After an event
Take-home bunches can go straight into water. Re-cut the stems first, and they will keep blooming for days.
