Fresh flowers are a living gift, and a little care goes a long way.
1. Trim the stems
Cut 2β3 cm off each stem at an angle with a clean, sharp knife before putting them in water, and again every two days.
2. Use clean water
Change the water every other day. Cloudy water is full of bacteria that block the stems.
3. Remove leaves below the waterline
Leaves sitting in water rot quickly. Strip them away.
4. Keep them cool
Away from direct sun, radiators and fruit bowls β ripening fruit releases ethylene, which ages flowers.
5. Use the flower food
The sachet with your bouquet feeds the flowers and keeps the water clean.
6. Remove fading blooms
One wilting flower speeds up the rest.
7. Give roses a drink
If a rose head droops, re-cut the stem and stand it in deep, cool water for an hour.
Enjoy your flowers!
